Green Button Alliance Financials

The Green Button Alliance (GBA) is comprised of leading utilities, governmental departments and agencies, solution providers, and affiliated organizations that collaborate to advance the Green Button initiative: to enable consumers around the world to access and share their energy and water usage data for managing their consumption.

“Green Button Alliance, Inc.” is a North Carolina 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, filing federally in the USA as an IRS IRC 501(c)(4) nonprofit.

In first few years of our existence, we were a part of the UCA^® International Users Group (UCAIug) — the international Utility Communications Architecture group for users of the IEC 61850 standard, the Common Information Model (CIM — per IEC 61970, IEC 61968 and IEC 62325), and the NAESB -defined Open Field Message Bus (OpenFMB).

Funding

Our organization is funded through three primary methods:

1. Memberships in the organization
2. Certification of Green Button implementations (platforms)
3. Providing Education — both Technical and Market-Information

The GBA continues to educate the market on the broad benefits of the Green Button standards, we encourage standards-based application development, and we administer the Green Button Certification Testing Program to accelerate the delivery of standardized Green Button technologies to consumers.  Our Certification and Education are available to Members and nonmembers.  Most resources we produce are available on our public websites for the public to use without need of purchase, registration, login, or Membership.

Tax Filings

“Green Button Alliance, Inc.” is a North Carolina 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation—incorporated in 2015 in the State of North Carolina, USA; filing federally in the USA as an IRC 501(c)(4) entity.

IRS Form 990 tax information for U.S. federal Internal Revenue Service filings is available to the public for the years 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022.  Form 990 for the year 2023 will be added when available from irs.gov, through direct links to the U.S. IRS website.
