Professional Bio
Josh Keeling leads the Product and Market teams at UtilityAPI, overseeing product management, market development, design, and external affairs. At UtilityAPI, he helps ensure that data integration between utilities, customers, solution providers, and other third parties is seamless, secure, and scalable to enable a clean, just, energy transition.
Josh has a deep background in virtual power plants, distribution system planning, regulatory strategy, product development, DER integration, and decarbonization. Josh brings a perspective that combines a research background with a deployment mindset, helping to find practical ways to scale solutions in a complex and evolving landscape. Prior to joining UtilityAPI, Josh has held leadership roles at companies like Generac, LO3 Energy, and Portland General Electric. Josh is a voting member of the Regional Technical Forum and faculty for the Rocky Mountain Institute’s eLab Accelerator program. His work in virtual power plants has been recognized multiple times by the Peak Load Management Alliance.
Josh holds a Ph.D. A.B.D./M.S. in Systems Science as well as a B.S. in Economics from Portland State University. He spends his weekends wrangling his three kids, tinkering with his e-bike, and dealing with the emotional roller coaster of being a lifelong Trail Blazers fan.
