Representatives from UtilityAPI and Enel Join GBA Board

MORGAN HILL, Calif., November 10, 2017–The Green Button Alliance (GBA), which fosters the development, compliance, and wide-spread adoption of the Green Button standard, today announced the results of its second annual board of directors election. Daniel Roesler, CEO of UtilityAPI, was elected to serve in a two-year seat and Robert Denda, Head of Network Technology, Global Infrastructure and Networks at Enel, will serve in a one-year seat. The Green Button Alliance’s visionary board consists of U.S. and international energy-industry leaders who collaborate to accelerate the delivery of Green Button energy- and water-usage data technologies that enable businesses and consumers to easily access their consumption data in a standardized format and securely manage their resource use.

“Standardized, private, and secure Green Button energy- and water-consumption data today enable utilities to offer new services, help energy-service companies meet new regulatory requirements, and provide a foundation for a broad-range of energy-management apps for the worldwide marketplace,” said Syed Mir, Chairman, Green Button Alliance. “This is an exciting and transformative time for the energy industry. We welcome Daniel Roesler and Robert Denda to our board as we continue to collaborate to advance the Alliance’s goals in making standards-based Green Button technology available to consumers around the globe.”

Roesler and Denda were elected by the Green Button Alliance’s Participating Membership to fill two seats on the board that were held by Sasha Sud of the Advanced Energy Centre and Elena Lucas of UtilityAPI, whose terms concluded in October. The Green Button Alliance sincerely thanks Sasha Sud and Elena Lucas for their strategic insights and active participation during their board terms. In addition, current board members Pamela Deahl of Southern California Edison (SCE) and Cengizhan Yenerim of Think Energy (ENGIE Resources) will fill the Secretary and Treasurer positions previously held by Kim Cresencia of San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) and Amy Kight Costadone of Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), respectively; both of whom the GBA thanks for their outstanding service.

About Green Button Standards

The Green Button Download My Data (DMD) method of usage-information access enables homeowners and property managers to download their electricity-, natural gas-, or water-usage data from their utility’s website in a computer-readable XML format with the click of a virtual Green Button. Utility customers can easily access their historical and current usage data, analyze trends, and make informed resource-management choices.

Extending upon the Green Button DMD process, the Green Button Connect My Data (CMD) method allows customers to authorize secure, automated transfers of their electricity-, natural gas-, or water-usage data to web and mobile apps for computers, tablets, and smartphones to enable them to efficiently manage and conserve their resource usage. Due to the use of standardized Green Button technology, third-party developers are able to more-rapidly create and offer products, services, and applications that will work with other Green Button implementations. The Energy Services Provider Interface (ESPI) standard for Green Button is published by the North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB).
